After a rainy two weeks leading up to the opening of the 2017 season at the Washington Farmers' Market, we were all ready for a beautiful day - and we got it! Vendors and visitors enjoyed a sunny and warm (but not hot!) day with a nice breeze at the market. Traffic was steady all day long, including 72 members of the Sprouts Kids Club, who happily collected their tokens and caught up with their favorite vendors after a long winter break!
Speaking of the Sprouts Club...
We would be happy to accept more sponsors, and we can always use more volunteers for the registration/check-in table. Info on both opportunities is available at washmomarket.com/kidsclub. And of course, new participants in the program are always welcome. Special thanks to the sponsors that have already committed to supporting the program - Bank of Washington, Missouri Rhine Valley Association, and Schroeder Drugs.
I think it was a wonderful day for everyone. This was the first Opening Day in a few years that I didn't need to layer multiple pairs of pants to keep warm, so that was a nice bonus! We heard lots of compliments on the new market merchandise featuring our new, beautiful logo (t-shirts and baseball shirts - tote bags that should be available this coming weekend).
We will have a few new produce vendors in the next couple of weeks, and we will also have some of our regulars that just weren’t able to attend opening day. We are really working to have more plants and produce available at the market each week. Interested vendors can call me at the chamber (636-239-2715), email email@example.com, or visit the website www.washmomarket.com for paperwork.
Reminder - the market is open every Saturday through the end of October, and we usually extend market hours on the days of Downtown festivals. The one exception is Art Fair and Winefest in May, when we are still open, but we move to the parking lot at Main & Cedar.
