Jessie (and her mother) from Crafted with Some Crazy will be setting up a sewing station on Saturday, April 29 at the market to help Sprouts members make a token pouch to keep their market money organized!
There is no cost for the pouch activity. Thank you to Jessie for donating the supplies, as well as her time and expertise for this event!!
The popular kids club at the market, Sprouts, will be in operation for the entire market season in 2017. Last year was the first year for the kids club, and the program began in June. Thanks to the support of sponsors, the club will start on Opening Day (April 8) for 2017!
Online Pre-Registration will be accepted until Thursday, April 6. Participants not pre-registered will need to sign up at the Sprouts table at the market on Saturdays. The Sprouts registration/check-in table will be open each week from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
About the Sprouts Club
Goal: To introduce children to a variety of fresh, local produce while encouraging families to shop at the Washington Farmers’ Market.
Who Can Participate: Children ages 3-10
How Does it Work?
· Parents register children to be members of the Sprouts Kids Club.
· Children check-in at the Sprouts table each market day and receive $2 in sprout tokens, which can only be used for fresh produce from a market vendor. Tokens can be spent immediately, saved for a larger purchase, or combined with siblings’ or friends’ tokens for a larger purchase.
· Purchases can only be made by the Sprout member. Adults cannot make purchases with the tokens and may not pick up tokens from the Sprouts table for children.
Changes for 2017
Sprouts will still earn two tokens (eligible for the purchase of fresh fruits and veggies only) each week when they check in. On each 5th visit, club members will now earn two bonus tokens, which can be used on any item at the market!
Another part of the program we are excited to expand is the education component. We will have presentations and hands-on activities scheduled throughout the year on market days as well. You can stay up-to-date on the special events at the market by watching the Market website and Facebook page. Information will also be sent in the Farmers' Market e-newsletter.
We are always looking for volunteers to help at the registration/check-in table. We need two volunteers for each 2-hour shift at the table. This is a great way for local youth to get their community service hours for scholarship/school requirements! If you are interested in volunteering at the market, please check out our available time slots and sign up!
If you have questions about the Sprouts Club, including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Amanda at the Chamber Office (636-239-2715 x106).
We are so excited to bring back the Sprouts Kids Club for 2017! Last year was the first year for the program, designed to introduce children to a variety of fresh, local produce while encouraging families to shop at the Washington Farmers' Market. Children earn $2 in Sprouts tokens each week when they check'in at the market. The money can be used only for fresh fruits and/or vegetables. This year, we will also add "bonus bucks," which is an additional $2 that is earned with every 5th check-in. Bonus bucks can be redeemed for any item at any vendor booth.
Sponsorship dollars are used to reimburse the vendors that accept Sprouts tokens. We have two sponsorship levels - $1,000 and $250. Click Here for a sponsorship overview. If you would like to sign up to be a sponsor, please complete the contract of your choice (1,000 contract - 250 contract) and return to the Chamber office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amanda (636-239-2715 x106).
